1. The Bible refers to the heart over seven hundred times. It is not referring to the physical organ pumping blood throughout your circulatory system. Discuss with your group what the Bible means what it talks about the heart. Come up with a working definition for everyone.
2. Just as the number one cause of death is heart diseases even so the number cause of spiritual sickness is the condition of your heart - spiritually speaking. With this in mind, ponder and discuss these two statements:
Watch over your heart with all diligence for from it flows the springs of life. Prov 4:23
The unexamined life is not worth living Socrates
3. Look up each of the verses listed regarding the various conditions of the heart and evaluate the condition of your own heart.
Ps 12:2, Ps 61:2, Ps 66:18, Ps 73:21, Ps 78:8, Ps 81:12,
Ps 101:4, Ps 101:5, Ps 109:22, Matt 13:15.
What is the condition of your heart . . . really? Ask God to
reveal to you to real condition of your heart. It is OK - God is
not out to condemn you but to change you.
4. Now look up the characteristics of a healthy heart, meditate on each one and share your insights and questions, with your group.

6. Discuss this idea of brokenness. What it is not and what is it? Refer to these examples: The Alabaster Vial - John 12:1-3; The Grain of Wheat - John 12:24-26, The Cross - Luke 9:23, and The Way of the Farm - Isaiah 28:23-29.
7. Take personal time - get alone and talk to God about what is really going on in your heart. Do not procrastinate. Humble yourself now and consecrate yourself without reservation, without condition into the hands of God!
