Focus: Character

Looking Back

How has God taken the gifts and talents of your childhood and refined them into Kingdom service today? What was the process that God used to transform your talents into precious service to others to bring glory to God?

What do iron, coal, and bauxite have to do with steel, diamonds, and aluminum? What are the three components that make up the process of their transformation?  Heat, pressure and time are all involved in transforming these “raw materials” into something better, stronger, more useful, more beautiful. If you take away the process, then you lose the product!

Read chapter 23 of Job. What does Job acknowledge that God is doing in his life? What does Job declare in Job 23:10?

Looking Upward

What is God doing in your life today to test you, purify you and build your character? Discuss this with your small group or prayer partner.

Read 1 Peter 1:1-9 carefully, three times. Spend time in prayer with your prayer intercessor asking God to strengthen your faith so that you will remain strong throughout “fiery trials”.

Looking Forward

Take a piece of aluminum foil and put it in your pocket as a reminder that the heat and pressure you face today are God’s way of helping you reflect His glory tomorrow!
